Have any of you seen this on Netflix? I watched it last night after I gave up on any hope of an exciting/entertaining Super Bowl and…I have feelings!
Seriously WTF was wrong with these parents!?!?! I could barely get through it as I almost turned it off several times because they made me so angry!
If you haven’t seen it, here are a few highlights:
-These parents let this GROWN MAN sleep in their 12 year old daughter’s bed with her because he said it was part of his therapy
-These parents BOTH engaged in extramarital relations with this dude…with the mom having a full-on affair with him AFTER he had kidnapped their daughter
-These parents did not report their daughter as missing for 5 WHOLE DAYS!
-These parents signed affidavits clearing the kidnapper of any wrongdoing because they didn’t want the public to know about their affairs
-Then…after all of this…they still allow their daughter to have contact with this guy and he kidnaps her AGAIN!
Anyone else what this craziness?!?!

This sounds like something to ride my stationary bike to while I yell at the tv. How can people be that dumb!

I watched it with my jaw on the floor the whole time. The dad jerking off the neighbor guy because he needed a “release” and was so nonchalant about it had me like 🤔😳. Those parents failed that girl in every way possible.

I honestly can’t believe how oblivious those parents were…like…how are you this naive? How do you just…let it happen, then just forgive and forget, and then let it happen again?? All while having affairs with him?

This was one of the weirdest netflix documentaries yet. Every single time I thought the parents couldn’t get any more idiotic they went and did something literally a million times worse like a week later!
The whole thing was so WTF!

I just cannot imagine failing my child so incredibly horribly as this. And that the woman forgave them and wrote a book about everything with her mother…crazy! She’s a better person than me because I could never forgive them for something like this.

I watched it a few weeks ago with a friend. The whole thing was so distrurbing. The most distrubing parts to me was that they let the guy sleep with their daughter as part of “therapy” for 6 nights per week as you said. And then after she was kidnapped, they let her go stay with him again?? Because she really wanted to… The of course the second kidnapping where she was put in a boarding school in Pasadena. This was literally one of the most messed up things I have ever seen. I want to know his wife’s part of the story because that could be a documentry in and of itself.

That documentary was infuriating. I said it should be renamed “most idiotic parents of the 70’s”

If you’re interested the podcast True Crime Obsessed did an episode on this doc and it’s great. They watch true crime documentaries and discuss them, it’s one of my fav podcasts. They actually did an interview with the director of Abducted in Plain Sight that was really interesting but you can only get it through their Patreon which is $5 a month.
That documentary was absolutely insane. I don’t think there’s any excuse for the choices those parents made, especially the mother. It actually happened about half an hour down the road from my hometown.
