I can’t even begin to describe the absolute loathing I feel for her parents. They were her protectors and failed miserably. I don’t know how they live with themselves or how the daughter hasn’t cut them out of her life.

I have so many true crime documentary recommendations!

– The Seven Five (this may be my favorite true crime doc)

– Dear Zachary (this one is a really hard watch, I sobbed through it but it’s amazingly well done)

– Something’s Wrong with Aunt Diane

– Belief: The Posession of Janet Moses

– Evil Genius

– The Keepers

– The Hunting Ground

– Who Took Johnny?

– The Witness

– Long Shot

– Team Foxcatcher

llevinso :  I watched this but I watched  it in parts because I couldn’t stomach it all in one sitting.

Some people just lack the IQ to forsee situations but I don’t think lack of intelligence was the case here by way of the parents allowing this to happen. I think especially that the mother knew exactly what was going but got some sick twisted jollies from knowing this was happening to her daughter. The way she smiled when she talked about this man x amount of years later in the interview made me think she was complicit with the treatment of her daughter so she could continue to have a relationship with the man. Ive seen many cases reported in the news where mothers offer up their daughters to sexual abuse and rape to a particular man in hope that their personal relationship with the man will develop and grow. I got vibes of that scenario from this documentary from both parents. I don’t think it was simply a case of them wanting to keep the secret of  their affair getting out.

The mom was the one I was the most angry with. Sometimes it seemed as if she had no regrets. But they are all definitely at fault. My fiance and I were in shock honestly about everything. The part that made me sob the most was when Jan (I believe is her name) was talking about looking up and seeing leaves through a little window, and just thinking “Think about the leaves”. It was truly heartbreaking.

I’ve never seen this but I cannot imagine allowing this kind of stuff.

I would literally murder someone if I knew some guy was raping a young kid. Didn’t matter if it was my kid, the neighbors kid or some random stranger kid I’ve never met. Unacceptable.

This has only just been released on Netflix UK. I heard it’s been available on US Netflix since 2017.

I just can’t get past the mum sleeping with the man who had raped her daughter. There’s being desperate for affection then there’s that…

I also hate the tapes when he says “It’s Bob” and the mum sort of longingly says “hiiii B” although I know they were meant to be trapping him.

I agree that religion played a big role in this.

llevinso :  The Imposter is really a great doc. Not sure if it’s still on Netflix or not, but it might be on Hulu. I know I saw it on one of them not too long ago. Another crazy story.

Calling her parents naive or dumb is way too nice. They are straight up garbage people.

I just watched this after reading this thread. Holy crap.

Is it just me or is there a big piece of the puzzle missing? I feel like the church/religious aspect was more at play here than they let on, which would better explain why the parents were so complicit with what was happening.

Also…Bob’s wife and children…why didn’t they get into that more? Did she know? Was she in on it? Were their kids abused too?

Tbh, if they are willing to go on camera and say what they said, to me the whole truth is probably 10 times worse.

God bless the FBI agent. He must have nerves of steel dealing with these parents.

I haven’t watched this yet, but I vaguely remember the parents being guests on Dr. Phil a few years back.

I can’t believe how stupid those parents were. As was it just me, or did they both seemed aroused talking about him on camera, even after all this? Especially the mom.

Edited to add: After reading all the comments, I see I’m not alone. I think the mom totally got off on all this.

In regards to B’s wife, I would imagine she knew about it, but was abused beyond belief and scared of her shadow.
