My boyfriend and I just bought a 1.3  E/ VS1 cushion  cut diamond and is being set as we speak and yes I am excited!! .  I have abit of a concern and wanted to know if I have anything to worry about and i hope you wonderful ladies would be able to tell me. .Â
As I read up a little more about cushions I see that people say that they face up smaller compared to a round , oval , radiant. How much smaller  would mine look compared to one of them?Â
And what other shape diamonds would  face up the same as a cushion? Â

I don’t know much about other diamond shapes in comparison because I didn’t look at many other shapes. I looked at a 1 carat round and honestly, I didn’t see much difference. To me, my 1.1 sqaure cushion looks bigger on my hand than the 1 carat round did.

There’s a handy size chart on this website
WB wouldn’t let me upload the pdf but it’s about halfway down the page under “printable diamond size chart”. Cut obviously makes a difference but according to the chart, a 1.25ct round is 7.00 mm in diameter and a 1.25ct cushion is 6.00mm in diameter. Hope that helps!

From my experience it seems that cushions face up a bit bigger that a princess or radiant but smaller than a round, oval, or marquise. I am sure your cushion is going to be fabulous. How big are your fingers? Please post pics when it is done so we can all admire it.

Littlegreykitten – that chart was really helpful I guess there isn’t really to much of a difference to worry that much about so thanks.

And I will post pictures when I get it. thankyou all again!!!!

I believe what effects the “face up” factor in stones is how deep the cut is. The shallower the cut the larger it looks. But cushions have a tendency of being “chunky” and can look quite larger. So I don’t think you should have any issue as long as its a great stone, which I don’t doubt is what you got.
