I am pro-choice but I agree, abortion is birth control.

@AB Bride:  I believe when someone says about using it as a form of birth control, they’re referring to someone getting repeated abortions in lieu of using birth control of a more conventional nature.

I am guessing when people say that they are saying that they dont agree when people use it as their ONLY method of birth control. Like I am not going to take the pill or use a condom or Plan B pill if I get knocked up I will just have an abortion….

I think when people say that they are directing the comment towards women who get an abortion any time they get pregnant and aren’t using any other preventative measures. I think this is the wrong way to use abortion. It’s something to take seriously and shouldn’t be the only form of birth control that women are using.

@MsPanda:  I highly doubt that type of girl exsists.  Even if it does, it’s a dangerous stereotype to put on women to dis-empower them from their freedom of choice. WHO DOESN’T TAKE ABORTION SERIOUSLY!? It’s a terrible misleading “character” for society to project on women.

It’s true! It is preventing birth. I do find it odd if that’s all someone uses, as in getting repeated abortions (sounds like way more effort than taking a pill everyday) but whatever, that’s their choice.

That type of girl does exist.  And what does that say about the worth of the potential women she’s aborting time and time again.

I’m pretty sure that is AB’s point…. why is it OK to judge abortion as a form of birth control- as Miss CT says “use it the wrong way”. Her point is that abortion IS a form of birth control, whether you like it or not. It is a preventative measure to giving birth- not to getting pregnant (different).

@HisIrishPrincess:  It exists but it is ignorant to generalize and trivialize the issue by referencing such a minority. That’s like saying a religion should be illegal or wrong because they have extremists in the demographic.

I agree with the other posters that say that it’s usually said in reference to girls who don’t use any other method, like condoms, the pill or Plan B, and have mulitple abortions.

I can think of three girls that I know personally that have had multiple abortions because they don’t want to use any other method of birth control. It’s sad, but there are people like that.

I’m pro choice, for what it’s worth.

@SouthernGirl:  I know two women like this.  And no, they don’t take it seriously, like someone said every woman does.
