No…..  I’ve been wearing a mossianite ring 24/7 since 2008.  I never take it off and the stone is as perfect as the day I got it.  The stone is nothing like a CZ.

No the only thing harder than moissanite is diamond. So unless you plan on scratching your moissanite with a diamond, it should be fine. Actually moissanite can take a harder hit than a diamond, but a diamond can scratch it…the Mohs scale is really about scratch resistance than hardness. A diamond is a 10, moissanite 9.25, and cz about 8-8.50 on the mohs scale. I am clumsy with my moissanite and it is in perfect condition.

I have never seen that in any of the moissanites I’ve ever owned.  I would say it’s pretty hard pressed to happen unless the edge was cut super thin and even then you would have to drag it on concrete.

majorairhead :  Yeah harder gems such as moissy, diamond, sapphire and ruby really shouldn’t have any abrasions on the facets. I’ve only ever see that on CZ because of how soft it is.

majorairhead :  you shouldn’t. HOWEVER, it is entirely possible that the stone you’re looking at got scratched/abraided whrn being set by the jeweler. I had to have my ring repaired when I dropped it by accident and squished in some of the prongs. The jeweler who “fixed” the ring scratched/scuffed my sapphire. It looked like a scrape on the facet. The new jeweler told me it looked like the first jeweler dropped solder onto the stone and tried to just wipe it off. So scratching/abraiding CAN happen, but not generally in the course of ordinary wear.

majorairhead :  The only time I’ve heard of actual abrasion on moissanite was when someone put them in a sonicator with diamond jewelry.
