Boys: Sam, Nick, Jack, Max

Girls: Grace, Piper, Elise

I didn’t list any middle names because I don’t understand the fixation. I know zero people who use their first and middle names together. I would just pick a family name for the middle.

There are a lot of girls names that I love but ones that my husband and I both love are: Chloe, Juliette and Aria.

Boy names are a lot harder for us to agree on! My husband doesn’t seem to like any! But some of my favorites are: Beckett, Emmett, and Liam.

We haven’t given much thought to middle names. We’ll probably just end up using one from our list that we didn’t use as a first name. We don’t want to use any family names so that’s out. I think middle names is where I will get to use the names I love that my husband isn’t completly on board with since he doesn’t care about middle names.

While doing some genealogy, I came across a distant ancestor of mine: Aldegundam van Kevelaar.  I’m forced to assume she was a bulletproof giant robot from the Space Netherlands.  Would I name my child Aldegundam, even after finding out there are a lot of Aldegundams and Aldegundas in my family?  Probably not.  But it is probably my favorite. 🙂

Middle names being chosen just for taste and not because of cultural or family tradition was honestly something I had never, in all my years, fully realized was a thing until I started hanging out here.  In a lot of my friends’ cases, middle names in their families are given for a grandparent – I have one friend where he and his six brothers all have the same middle name.  In my father’s family, the middle name was always the first name of a godparent.  In my mother’s (more traditional) family, your middle name was your baptismal patron saint’s name.  But if I went with that, we’d probably have an Aldegunda Dymphna running around the world, cursing the universe for existing.  And I probably shouldn’t do that to a child!

(On the far opposite of Aldegundam, I’ve always been very fond of Ann and Dana.)

My favourite boy name was Max. Then my mom got the cutest puppy and I named him Max. Suits him way better than any human boy I can imagine 😂

No favourite girl names yet

VictorianChick :  If you were referring to my post, it’s Elise not Elsie. 🙂 Pronounced uh-Lease

And, add Henry to my boy list!
