Does anyone else’s Fi/DH/SO fight the air conditioning like a 3 year old having a tantrum?
Fi would like nothing better than to keep all the doors and windows open, but I can’t stand heat and humidity. We’re going on our 1-year anniversary in our house, and yesterday I turned on the AC. The result was a sullen, sulky, one-word-answer brat that I rarely see. 30 minutes later, he agreed that the houe was more pleasant without the mugginess and gave me a hug.
PLEASE tell me I’m not the only one having this problem! It’s in the 90s here!

haha i think this is pretty common. my fh and i have ac wars all summer. but this consists of him making it 72 and me adjusting it to 75. we don’t talk about it though, we just sneak it.

Haha it’s one of the fun things about living in DC!! we’re actually the opposite, Fiance loves a nice cool icebox and I could happily live in tropic heat, so I loooove DC summers (yea, I know, I’m weird).

I like the hot/humid and am fine with a breeze, Fiance is all about AC. He doesn’t like to be sweaty.
Thankfully we don’t have central heat/air, so if it comes down to it, I can sit in a room and he can sit in a room.

We have central heat/air, so he’s pretty much stuck with what I want if he wants any boom boom.
Plus, it’s not like I’m keeping it super-cold, I just set it to 75 to get rid of the mugginess. Hmmm… now I’m starting to sound like a brat!

We both prefer fresh air over central air. So we love to be able to open the windows & doors. But we live in NY so the AC only comes on maybe a dozen times the whole summer.

Thankfully, no. Like me, he likes to sleep in a refrigerator. He had the filters changed and the AC cranking the first day weather reports were threatening temperatures in the 70s.

@MrsLongcoatPeacoat: Bahaha… “boom boom”… love it!
Darling Husband hates the humidity — he absolutely despises it. Last night it wasn’t nearly hot enough for the AC but it was so humid. I didn’t really care — if I have a fan, I’m good. Darling Husband slept with only the sheet and a thin cotton blanket all night! I had them, plus two fleece blankets piled on… I don’t get men.
Darling Husband said it’s more uncomfortable because his man parts change with the humidity or something? I don’t really get it, but I feel bad when he’s miserable…

@piglet_625: his man parts change with the humidity…. hee hee hee!
I know what he means! Let’s just say… errr…. sticky! When it’s too humid, I feel sticky, muggy, and gross! Fi does too, whether he’ll admit it or not! We have a ceiling fan, but it just doesn’t really help with humidity.

lol, we do have disagreements – I’m always cold and he’s always hot. To remedy the situation, he purchased me a Snuggie and a portable heater that has a remote. lol.

Fiance is always hot and I’m always cold, so when we moved in together, we had to reach an agreement on the AC. He gets to control the temperature, and I get to buy as many blankets and throws as I need. This way there’s always something fleecy and warm in each room that I can use.

We have AC and Heat wars. Normally the cheapest way wins and it gets to be hot in the summer and cold in the winter. The compromise in the winter is that I snuggle in my electric blanket. But he has trouble sleeping in the summer when it’s hot and I LOVE it hot.

In the summer I have to be cold to sleep, my AC runs like 24/7 no joke.
however, in the winter I always have a pile of blanketsd and the heater on. I don’t really understand why i sleep different in opposite seasons.
Thankfully Fiance lets me do whatever I need to do. He just adjusts his blankets as necessary. (we really only see each other when we sleep because we work opposite shifts)

@MrsLongcoatPeacoat:we’re opposite. he likes it colder than i like it. 🙁
or, rather in the summer he likes it colder, i like it warmer.
in the winter i like it cooler, he likes it warmer.
it is annoying.

Oh yes. Fiance is very adamant about not turning the AC on until June 1st. Most of the time that doesn’t happen, especially since we have temps in the 80s this week. I don’t care though because I don’t mind the heat.
