Hey to all the other academic bees out there – a hint about publishing! Last week we had an assistant editor from Science come in and give a talk. One of the things that really hit home was the timing of submitted articles….apparently, December is the highest month for submissions (makes sense – people want to get that paper out the door before winter break). So, since Science only accepts a few articles each week, you chances of getting accepted into Science decrease in December.
So – HOLD ONTO THOSE PAPERS until JANUARY! Your chance of getting submitted at the start of the year are much higher! Of course, this is all completely back-of-the-envelope statistics (lies, damn lies and statistics!) so take it with a grain of salt!
