My wedding is coming up next summer, and we have booked a beautiful art deco movie theatre-turned-banquet hall as our ceremony and reception venue. The space has a very distinctive old hollywood feel, and I want our wedding to fit right into the gorgeous building. Since my fiance and I are pretty minimalist, we’re not going all-out Hollywood glamor theme. Instead, we’re focusing on elements that feel classic and chic. My bridesmaids are wearing black knee or tea length silk or satin dresses of their choosing, and I am wearing a simple, dropped-waist a-line ivory dress with a fingertip veil. My fiance is wearing a tux. So far, our wedding is exclusively black and white, but I would love to incorporate an accent color into the bridesmaids’ bouquets, the centerpieces, etc. So what do you think? I initially though red, but now I’m not sure if that is too bold or too popular. Are there any other classically chic bouquet ideas that would fit into an art deco space?

I think red would be a great idea! A deep red would look amazing with your theme!

I too am voting red! It seems like it would be apropriate for your wedding.

Red is good.
Hot Pink is in, or teal.
You could also do a metalic color gold or siver.
You really can’t pick a wrong color.

I think red as well! You know the bombshell old hollywood hair with bright red lips? HOT! Think Dita Von Teese and Christina Aguilera.

You are on point with the Hollywood bombshell comment!!

what about a creamsicle orange? the color combo of orange black and white was hugely popular in art deco design her a link to an amazing real wedding on snippet and ink that used the same color combo with an art deco theme

@XWeddBlissX: Oh thanks! It’d be so simple to do the ladies too. Curl the hair (hot rollers!) pin it up on the sides or halfway up, minimal eye makeup and eye popping red lipstick.

@MissBabeski: I’m doing the pinup to the side with curlers. Such a pretty do.
I myself also have a black and white theme with damask and orange thrown in.

We did black and white with red and aqua.
What a about using metallics as your accent colors? Black and white and maybe gold and silver? I think that has a very Old Hollywood ring to it.

I had an old hollywood theme. My colors were black and white and pops of purple (my favorite color). The girls wore knee length black dresses and carried white calla lilies. I carried a bouquet of all purple calla lilies. Calla lilies seemed very classic to me. (And simple since I did my own flowers). I did the red lips thing. And we served popcorn and movie candy at the reception. When I was planning I saw alot of great inspiration that used black white and red. You cannot go wrong with red roses. 🙂 Good luck!
