Baal:  this has never happened to me but I totally agree-I would be very unhappy! my rings are 18ct white gold and after having them re-dipped in January I noticed that the inside of my engagement ring has a dark kind of smudge-I never went back to complain but will go somewhere else next time. I think it is unacceptable for a jeweller to hand back a piece which is less than perfect. I hope they sort it for you properly this time!

Baal:  No, it’s not ok. Sounds like they were rushing to finish it the first time, even though they had it for a week. Hopefully this time they will take their time and do it right.

I buy a lot of jewelery and I’ve seen poor work over time. Usually my jeweler does a great job but I’ve had white gold rings re-sized without the back re-rhodium plated, so the bottom was yellow-ish. I’ve had a rose gold band re-sized with white gold solder. Looked like a cheap job! I’ve had a halo ring returned to me after being soldered to a band and it was flagrantly missing a stone! Anyway, my rings have stoee-warranties and were all repaired to my expectations after the fact. So I’m fine with it! 😉
