cassandra7 :  why would she trade it in for a “reasonable” dress?? She said yes to the freaking dress! This community is supposed to uplift each other…. you and others aren’t being helpful or even pleasant for that matter. Go troll somewhere else and not on someone’s wedding dress… good gracious

poppinbottles :  agreed! She asked for opinions on how to line the back and women are telling her that she made a bad choice and to exchange the dress she said yes to… I’m just in shock at how catty some women are on here! Gives me a bad taste in my mouth. We women are our biggest downfall, we need to lift each other up!

Pretty dress.  Agree with PP’s that the entire dress from bust down needs to be lined with anything but a nude color.

You’re getting a lot of snippy comments and I don’t know why. If it’s because of your “accidentally” comment, that was clearly a joke. Just like I say I accidentally ate a whole chocolate cake this weekend (which is why I couldn’t have worn a dress like that).  Ignore them.  Wear this kind of thing while you can.  I’m 47, and many years and several cakes away from being able to wear this kind of dress.

Anyway, is it already lined? But just a nude colour? If so I would have thought it’d be straightforward to replace the lining, or even order it with a different colour.

Daisy_Mae :  Well, a high end seamstress would be one that tailors couture clothes mostly, whereas mid or low end would be one who tailors off the peg. It’s quite common, I’m surprised you’ve not heard of it.

I say just put a new lining in the dress and leave everything else As Is. The back is gorgeous and the V neck, while deep, doesn’t look very wide so boobs probably won’t be spilling out.

If anything on that same page I saw another one of their dresses that puts a mesh overlay on the top. That’d be an easy way to make the top more conservative while also keeping that pretty V design.

daffodils :  Now I really want cake. I always “accidentally” eat the whole thing.

daffodils :  Usually I “accidentally” eat an entire pizza, but I enjoy “accidentally” eating the occasional cake as well. Maybe PPs “accidentally” posted unnecessarily snippy comments?

OP: I say you line everything but the arms. For the deep-V, I’ve seen people place a sheer fabric there and it looks nice – it dials down the sexy, but does not totally get rid of it.

Its really not as over the top sexy as people are making it out to be. Sheesh. Change lining to white and problem solved. Not a fan of nude lining in general, maybe bc it looks really odd with my skin tone. Its a beautiful dress. 😊 Enjoy your pick.

testytesttest :  Lining the bottom half and putting extra lace over the boobs should do just fine. It’s meant to be a sexy looking dress and you obviously liked the look of it.  I don’t think you need to modify the back of it at all. There’s plenty of backless, deep V wedding dresses doing the rounds, it’s not going to look indecent or anything esp if you have a veil or your hair down. I might also add that I’m very jealous you have the figure for that dress!!! 🙂

It looks like the real life bride in the second website you posted had it lined? It still looks sexy, but not body stocking sheer. I vote line the whole thing, but leave the keyhole back.

Line it all except the sleeves/back and possibly fill in the plunge neckline a little. It’s not going to look frumpy just because it isn’t see-through!

heavenlyflower :  If I’m not wrong, the “over the top” thing that people are reacting to is that the dress as is doesn’t include nude lining, it’s literally just a thin layer of lace and beading that shows a LOT of skin underneath.

browneyedgirl24 :  oh my. In that case I get it. Didn’t take a thorough look, thought nude lining was covering certain areas already. So nothing but a thin lace flower over the hoo ha? lol Interesting.

Goodness, if I saw a bride walk in with that dress (unaltered, as it is in the picture), my eyes would bulge.  I personally think it looks more like lingerie than a wedding dress.  If you love the dress, work with your Future Mother-In-Law to get some serious alterations to make it less revealing.  Otherwise, look for another dress that has a sexy wow factor that you’re going for without looking so revealing and inappropriate.
