I am reading through lots of different ceremony formats and I’d really like to thank and acknowlege our parents in the opening, but FI’s dad is our officiant. Does anyone have a suggestion of how to go about this? It will sound weird for his dad to say something about how great our parents are because he’ll be talking about himself. Has anyone else come across this?

My Mom and Dad both are pastors and were the officiant for my sister’s wedding. If you want to acknowledge them I would talk to your father about putting in a part where he says “Now the couple would like to express a few words” and then thank whoever you like, mentioning that he is doing this wonderful cermony for you. My sister didn’t do an offical thank you, she just had an acknowledgement section in her program.
