Acne all over parts of my face after clear skin for about a year

Might be worth checking to see what has changed recently. Could it be an allergic reaction to a new soap, lotion, laundry detergent, makeup, hair product, food, environment, etc?

If it is truly acne… I feel your pain. I had mostly clear skin from my 20’s up until about 32 when suddenly my skin went crazy. I had started working out but would always wash/shower after. Still, it persisted for nearly a year with terribly bad skin. I eventually found out about Differin gel and it has been a life saver! At first I did Differin at night and salycilic acid in the morning. Once the breakouts cleared up Ive been able to back down to just differin every 2-3 nights. Perhaps that could help? It was formerly a prescription  product so its very effective.

Could it be a hormone issue?

In my expirience temples and jawline acne are almost always hormone related.

The same thing happened to me when I turned 28/29. I had mild ance as a teen and mostly clear skin all in my 20s. Then I all of a sudden started getting breakouts when I was close to 30. I went to a dermatologist and she told me it was hormonal acne which can happen around 30ish. She gave me a prescription Retin-A and I’ve been using it for several years. It works well and keeps my skin wrinkle free and plump. Maybe see a dermatologist…mine was pretty sudden too after having mostly clear skin. Good luck!

kayaa :  Consider eliminating dairy from your diet, or cutting down on it. Switching to almond milk and oat milk has worked for me.

Have you recently changed or come off birth control? I only ask because this happened when I came off birth control and was my first pregnancy symptom. Or have you recently gained/lost weight? If not it could still be hormonal seeing as you havent had a change in detergent etc.

kayaa :  Another reason can be an infection! Too Much Information but I had an infection “down there” that I didn’t bother to get checked out and treated (don’t judge me, it’s nothing serious and I was lazy), and then after a while, I got very painful acne along the jawline and chin that just wouldn’t heal. I didn’t connect the two together until my mom pointed out that there could definitely be a connection. The painful cystic acne went away completely within 2-3 days after treating the infection.

For it to happen overnight is very, very strange. Did you eat something different last night? Are you under a great deal of stress suddenly? Is your period about to start?
