I really love green tea products for my skin. I also prefer hyaluronic acid in moisturizer, so I don’t have to use heavy creams that tend to be too much for my oily/acne-prone skin.

I like the Neogen foaming green tea cleanser, Blithe green tea splash mask, and I like the Peter Thomas Roth 8% glycolic acid toner. The moisturizer I use is the Peter Thomas Roth hyaluronic Cloud Cream. My skin is pretty tough, so if you have sensitive skin, the 8% glycolic may be too harsh at first.

Arbonne CF5 is a great regime I used to use but it’s pretty expensive. Michael Todd Charcoal cleanser is great and I believe they even have a bridal beauty regime. I now use CeraVe which is cheap and definitely not organic like CF5 and MT, but I tend to have oily skin and it keeps my skin matte all day long (just make sure you moisturize at night).

My skin is VERY oily and it drives me crazy! I always thought it would get better as I aged but even at 50 my skin is still oily as heck!

I’ll be interested to see if anyone has any great tips or products.

faithschad :  I have combo skin and the occasional hormonal breakout. It’s not too bad to begin with, but lately I’ve REALLY, REALLY been loving the Herbivore Botanicals Blue Tansy mask. I haven’t had it for too long yet, but so far it’s amazing.

Their entire line is supposd to be great for oily/acne prone skin. When I picked it up at Sephora, the girl there said she SWEARS by the mask and the Blue Lapis oil to control her oily skin/clear up acne.

They are a bit pricy, but might be worth a try! πŸ˜€

faithschad :  I have oily skin type and my skin used to be very shiny and breakout. I started using Paula’s Choice products for oily skin and it completely changed my skin. My skin is so much more balanced now. I still technically have an oily skin type which will never change, but I don’t have oil that just sits on my face and looks shiny all day. You want to make sure none of your products have alcohol in them. That just dries out your skin making it produce even more oil.

I have extremely oil skin, and if I don’t follow my daily skin routine or a routine before my makeup, I breakout horribly and oxidize as orange as a cheeto. My favorite products are:

Laura Mercier translucent setting powder- love to put this on to keep me matte but still making my skin look like skin. It’s also my favorite powder to bake with if I’m wearing makeup for longer than 5 hours.

Urban Decay De-Slick setting spray-I LOVE this setting spray after trying it from a recommendation of a beatuy blogger. So far it’s been the only thing that keep me mostly matte through the day.

The Body shop seaweed Oil balancing clay mask-I love to use this twice a week for only 10 minutes to really suck the oil out of my face if I’m wearing more makeup or have more humidity during the day. Also love their oil balancing moisterizer too!

Becca Ever matte poreless primer-This is a godsend for me to use in my t-zone before putting on my foundation and concealer to keep those problem areas not shiny.

Good things Pore-fectly clear charcoal srub-I like to use this for my breakout days and when I need to exfoliate and really clean my skin since it’s so sensitive.

Also every one in a while I’ll splurge and get a green tea face mask from sephora just to give my skin a refresher from all the products that I use. For the occassional day that I’m dry (ha!) I like to use the Korres Greek yogurt moisterizer. I love all of these products, but it is an expensive upkeep!

I used to have oily skin, until I discovered I actually had dehydrated skin and needed more hydrating, water-based products. Once my skin balanced out, I had combo-normal skin. I love Clinique’s Dramatically Different Gel (the yellow one in a square bottle). It moistures without feeling heavy or greasy. If you’re into K beauty, my HG skincare product was Goodal’s Waterest Lasting Water Oil. I’d also recommend Cosrx BHA for large pores/blackheads/breakouts.

ETA: You wash your face 5 times a day? Perhaps your skin is oily because you are stripping it of its natural moisture. I’m no esthetician, but you should only be washing your face 2x day.

I have very, very oily skin, and I, too, used to wash my face repeatedly and use acne washes and toners, etc. What worked for me was switching to a more gentle cleanser, washing my face only twice a day (morning and evening) and blotting during the day. I never found any product that would keep me reliably shine-free throughout the day, but blotting the oil worked really well. I think my skin is producing less oil now that I’m not stripping it multiple times a day, too, though there is no doubt that I will always have oily skin. Using blotting sheets became really costly until I read that brown paper towels (or almost any public restroom paper towels) work equally well. So I carry blotting sheets in my purse, but during the day at work I just stop periodically in the restroom to take one paper towel to blot my face.

Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA liquid.

Changed my skin. Also, once I had cleared out the accumulated gunk from years of lazy skincare (yes, facewipes, looking at you!) I discovered my skin was actually sensitive and once I used gentler stuff it balanced out a lot! Good luck on your skincare quest πŸ™‚

I used to struggle with my skin, then I stopped washing my face with soap. I had heard of people doing this but thought they were nuts. I buy a cleansing oil and toner from Rocky Mountain Soap Factory, and my face LOVES IT. I tried everything to deal with my oily and gross hormonal acne (I thought) skin. My skin was also weirdly dry in some places, while at the same time being too oily.

Highly recommend!
