I chose that my pregnancy was unplanned.  But I do know that we were having sex about every other day.  And maybe even every 2 days.  I do remember reading somewhere that the suggestion was not to do it everyday, though I can’t remember why.

Every other day is fine.  I worked with a fertility doctor, and they advised at least twice a week as being sufficient.  If your man is …going… all the time, the sperm doesn’t have a chance to build up as much, so there’s less sperm per ejaculation.  So every other day or every three days is totally enough.  Obviously if you want to do it every day, by all means!

From what I’ve read it can depend on factors with both of you.

On his end:  If he has low count, every other day or longer is best.  If he has high count, every day is fine.  Also read that if he has low motility, every day is better.

On her end: The quality of your cervical fluid and length of time it appears will affect your window of opportunity.

We do every other day until the positive opk, then every day until my temp spikes.

I don’t think it’s that big of a deal either way as long as it doesn’t cause stress.  Everyday is usual for us whether trying or not but if it’s not everyday oh well.  I;m not sure about the whole daily doing it drops the count too much thing either, most men produce a fair amount continuously.  When we conceived my husband was biking in 90 degree weather everyday so he was frying his boys and definately had a lower count to begin with then is normal for him.

Here’s a study that argues for daily:

    http://www.newscientist.com/blogs/shortsharpscience/2009/07/daily-sex-gives-sperm-a-boost.html

Same researcher a few years earlier with a bit more explanation:

    http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/health/article2665788.ece

“Abstaining from sex does increase the number of sperm that are ejaculated, and this has led to advice that couples trying for a baby should have sex every two to three days.

Longer periods of abstinence, however, achieve little because while the quantity of sperm might increase, its quality declines. As sperm is produced, it is stored in the epididymis at the top of the testicle, but the longer it sits there the more damage it accumulates from exposure to free radicals.”

Now a lot of that is somewhat unproven so take it with a grain of salt.

Both my regular GYN and my specialist said that every other day is fine.  There’s really no need for every day.

I took my temp every morning so it wasn’t every day of the month, just right before I ovulated.

I feel like every other day would be fine though, since the sperm can live up there for a while.
