This morning my ex posted a rather depressing facebook status. Something along the lines of how the best years of his life have passed or something. He is in his early 20’s, so clearly this statement is a bit dramatic. However he has definitely been the “high school” kind of guy and I understand why he feels that way.
I gave him some advice about trying to set one or two big goals a year to accomplish and to choose his activities and where he puts his energy more wisely (such as saving for a downpayment on a house, an incredible trip some place like Thailand, Australia, Aruba, volunteering, etc) and quit focusing on little things that only give short term entertainment (partying, motorcycle, chasing girls are incredibly gorgeous but have the IQ of a piece of toast).
Though I know he won’t take my advice it got me wondering, what do you ladies do that give you an “inner satisfaction” so to speak? What activities truly make you happy?

Lately I’ve been into gourmet cooking and have been trying all sorts of new recipes out on Fiance – and he’s loving it, too, lol. First I assemble all the ingredients and pots and pans needed, and put on some classical music, pour a glass of wine. Even though it takes hours to complete, I enjoy the process of planning, shopping for and cooking a wonderful meal for us to share. It satisfies me on so many levels. It’s creative and then we get to eat it! I also enjoy music, flowers and reading (non-fiction because I like to learn new things). And Fiance and I enjoy watching sports together, both our basketball teams made it to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Championship (go Wolfpack! And he’s for the Tarheels – don’t ask how we coexist but we make it work, lol). I also like to work out at the gym, and we like to hike and do outdoor things a lot. That’s about all I can think of right now. We have a simple life but it works for me.

I really enjoy butterflies and flowers! Every year I make sure I get to Hershey Gardens in PA. Its about a 2 hour drive from me but it is just so amazing there. Every time i have been there it’s always beautiful weather. They have a butterfly house and I love watching them fluter around. The rose gardens just smell amaaaazing! Cant wait till they open which is in 2 weeks…I’ll be making plans to visit them soon 🙂
