I picked up my dress yesterday – yay!…but part of me is worried that it’s still not *perfect*. My friend that went with me to the fitting said that I’m just nitpicking over things no one else will see and that it’s turned out beautiful, but I think I just need a little more encouragement/confirmation that it’s turned out okay. The wedding is in 17 days and I absolutely can’t wait, I just am anxious I’m still going to be nitpicking things about my dress on the big day and won’t feel as beautiful as I want!
I had straps added to Sottero and Midgley’s Fantasia gown and have gone back for like 4 “final fittings” cause things just weren’t right – mostly with how the straps looked in the back. I’m still not sure I love how they look in the back, but they’re 500 times better than they were! I also am worried it will look obvious that I added the straps – something about the shape or how they lie or something is just catching my eye and making me think they just look silly. I feel great and skinny when I’m in the dress, but am also starting to think that it makes me look twice as big from the side when I look at the side photos :/. They said they can’t take it in at the hips because a) the fabric plus the corset back will make it bunch up and ride up my hips if it’s any tighter creating more of a fabric bulge, and b) I need to be able to walk and sit down in the dress.
My hair will be in a low up-do, I’m not wearing a veil, and I’ll have sparkly earrings but no necklace. Any encouragement or objective, third-party perspective you can offer would be really helpful!

@nolagirl0909: I think you look gorgeous! The straps are very unique and I think they fit with the dress very well. Also, I don’t think anyone could ever say that your hips look wide! I think your friend is right, but you should feel 100% comfortable in your dress!

@nolagirl0909: First of all, you look gorgeous! I think they did a wonderful job on the straps and only you can tell that you added straps to the dress. If you hadn’t mentioned it, I wouldve thought it was original to the dress 🙂

You look beautiful and tiny! It’s really obvious that what you think are your hips are actually the ruffles on the dress – even the most casual observer can see that. And the straps look like they’ve been a part of the dress since the day the designer drew the first sketch.

@nolagirl0909: It’s absolutely beautiful. Give it a week or so and all nit-pickiness will be gone. You will just be over it.
That said, I think the straps look completely natural to the dress. However, if you feel like it is bothering you, the only thing I can think I would change is where the tulle for the strap comes over the breast. It would look good if the whole breast were covered. It seems like most dresses with this type of strap, the tulle coveres each whole individual breast. But I really think it looks good either way.

Don’t nitpick! It looks gorgeous and I wouldn’t have been able to tell that the straps were added! You need to relax! I am sure there are other things you can worry about – the dress is perfect the way it is! 🙂
