We used tombo glue. Its just a craft scrapbooking glue that dries clear. Anything similar would proabbly do the trick.

I used some small crystals that I bought at Michaels.  They were sticky backed and came on a plastic card.  I used a tweezers to pull them off and place them on the invitations, and then pressed them down hard with a finger.

I was surprised, but they stuck super well.  I had none come off during the process of putting them on and stuffing/mailing the envelopes.  (A few individual crystals were defective but you knew it right away when removing them from the plastic and so I just had a few that never got used.)  I mailed a test through the mail and they stayed on great.  And I later checked with some friends who got their invites through the mail and all reported they remained stuck on!

The one downside I found with them is they are raised a bit and the mailing process seemed to make the envelopes all dimple where the rhinestones were.  They didn’t actually break through, but definitely didn’t look completely flat/smooth after going through the mail machines.
