Beautiful dress! Looks fab on you! I was thinking of adding sleeves to my dress too (similar neckline to yours) and the dress alteration person said she would make cap sleeves from the lace taken from the bottom of the dress. She’s going to use tiny hook and eyes to attach them to the dress so I’ll be able to detach them during the day if I want. Could be an option!

I added a lace cape style topper to my chiffon dress. I wanted a more romantic looser look than what my dress was giving me.

i love the first style of sleeve you posted, but think it may look too busy with your dress. If they can match the lace, I would go for the second style of sleeves.

I like the second style of sleeves.   I am adding sleeves to my dress as well.  My dress is too long by a good 4-5 inches so we will be using the materials from the dress to make the sleeves with when the steamstress hem it.

Proinceas:  I’m not sure where you can buy hayley paige boleros aside from a hayley paige salon. But I think each one runs a whopping $1000+! Perhaps you could use it as an example and have it custom made? Maybe jasmines?

I’m having straps added to mine as well. I have a photo of them tacked on, but we’ll be adding beading on the bust and sleeves so it’s not how it’ll really look in the end.

I found lace that matched my dress pretty well, and just used that.

    Straps

I wanted them off the shoulder to not obstruct my tattoo. I hate when things bisect it. I prefer it either fully covered or not at all covered.

You can also try Etsy… they have some gorgeous jeweled boleros or “back necklaces” as some vendors call the smaller ones.

Hayley Paige is a designer under Jim Hjelm you’ll probably have a bit of luck where ever you can find his gowns.

Proinceas:  I had sleeves that were basically like the 6th picture you posted!

Your dress looks great on you as is! I think once you have your accessories and viel on, sleeves might be too overwhelming on the finished piece. I think you have to experiement to see what would work best with the lace.  If you certainly want sleeves, I would suggest beaded cap sleeves similar to what dizzybee86 recommended. They look so beautiful!

EDIT: I just saw that you posted this awhile ago, so hopefully you’ve already figured it out 🙂

I wanted sleeves but didn’t find a dress with them so I bought my Allure 8919. The week before my wedding I decided I didn’t want to regret not getting sleeves, so I bought a Maggie Sottero bolero. It ended up being perfect and everyone thought it was part of my dress… until I took it off for dancing 🙂

I took pictures with and without the bolero on:

I really dislike strapless dresses and am all for adding sleeves! I added off-shoulder lace ones to mine using offcuts from the bottom of the dress. All the best! Sorry about the bad photos, still haven’t got any back.

jeg14 :  You mentioned a Maggie Sottero bolero. I was trying to find one on their wedsite but with no luck. Where did you purchase yours? Thanks!
