So I have a little bit of dress regret. I feel like I have had it since I bought it in September and just kept talking myself into my dress. It’s a very beautiful dress but I think I would be much happier with straps or cap sleeves. I’m also then worried I will get this done and then hate it and be spending so much money for that! I wish I didn’t say yes to the dress so fast! Has anyone had any experience adding sleeves/straps to a strapless dress?
This is my dress:
I was thinking of adding something like these images:

If I decide to add straps, I’m getting them added with snaps to attach them to the dress. That way I can wear it with or without. If I decide I don’t like it with, I’m just out the $$ of the alteration.

Sleeves are most likely a pretty cheap alteration to add. They are just sewing them on. Perhaps the store where you bought your gown has straps hat you can clip/pin to your dress to see what it would look like before you commit?

I think cap sleeves would look beautiful with your dress.

I personally love staps and cap sleeves. I just found my dress and it was strapless but I was able to add straps!! It wasnt that expensive either.

I added a lace jacket on mine.

I personally think it’s very hard to add sleeves to a strapless dress without it looking obvious, unless it’s done very well. Like PP said, maybe a lace jacket/bolero would do the trick.

thank you everyone!
I’m hoping we can find something that wouldn’t clash with the lace. That’s one of my concerns that it will just look out of place.

This is exactly what happened to me! I bought my dress and then was regretting not going to more places and waiting longer to buy it. I still love it though and just found some beaded trim to add straps to mine. If I had gotten a lace dress I would’ve gone with the cap sleeves like you were showing!
Here’s the trim I got to go with my dress.

That looks awesome with your dress!! Do you feel more comfortable with the straps? I think I am going to have to find something like that that doesn’t have any lace since it will be hard to match.

I just got it on Tuesday so I haven’t had them attached yet but I think I’ll be more comfortable with them. I got it from the fashion district in LA.
