I have wanted an Old Hollywood meets Old South style and I’m wanting to go a step further and incorporate Southern authors (many of whom have turned their books into movies) into the style framework. I’m going to begin updating the blog and also finding some more style and design inspiration in the weeks to come.
T and I have an unusual background in that our families know two well known southern authors. And an up and coming one is the mom of one of my friends! So I am looking for glamourous floral and non-floral centerpieces incorporating books…hr
One Idea I have is for rehersal dinner..three books stacked offcenter but well-balanced with a small hurricane candle on top. Or an ivy ring. For the next evening’s reception, have the books offcenter with a lovely floral arrangement in a vintage looking container on top..votive candles scattered around the tables glowing in the evening twilight.
I’ve also wanted to sort of update the color scheme to include pink, shimmery aqua blue, black but also add in grey to bring out some of the vintage feel. Floral arrangements in pink and grey with some silver antiqued looking containers.
Another idea I have is to find the books from these authors on my own. Some are older, some newer. I want to scourge used bookstores and see if I can find versions of them; I want to have a bookmark made for each guest;and on each table, each guest group;at the end of the night will have one book to bring with them from the centerpiece! (I’d have staff remove the books at the end); Maybe too much, but I’d like to have a book stamp inside each book with our monogram on it..like from the library of T and J, established 2009 (or 2010). Or I could go the easier route and purchase some paperbacks of the novels and have our library stamp on the inside page in a gift bag along with bookmark and some candy!
Here are a few book centerpiece ideas..
I’m a fan of saving money in unique ways, and one way I’d like to do it is by rearranging the books for the following evening’ centerpieces and dressing them up a bit more..adding candles and flowers.
