My RSVP’s are starting to roll in and I am startled at how many people are accepting for additional uninvited guests. If their inner envelope did not say “and guest” we meant for them to not bring a guest and children’s names were left out on purpose. I now want to post something on our website about no additional guests due to budget and space restraints. How do I say it nicely?

I’m guessing that those who added additional guests are either not going to check the website or ignore the suggestion. Even if they were to see it, they’d have to call you to change the RSVP, so I think your only ‘good’ option (but sucky for you) is to call them, apologize that it wasn’t clear (even though it was) and ask how many of ‘x’ will be attending. If about half of your RSVPs are still out, then the website update may help prevent a few future extras from being added. Good luck, I’m so not looking forward to this part of the planning.
