diamond101987:  We didn’t have guests at our wedding, but I would put the +guest on the actual invitation, not the STD as well.

We only did it on the formal invitations.

diamond101987:  I think it is helpful for your single guests’ advance planning to know whether they are invited with a guest or not, especially if the wedding involves travel.

diamond101987: I’m writing the actual guests name on the save the dates. I don’t think that’s the etiquette but I don’t want confusion about whose invited. The only people that get to bring whoever they want as far as plus ones is my bridal party. Everyone else has to be engaged, married, or just been together forever

We’re putting both guests names on the Save the Date and the formal invite. In some cases, our guests can bring a “plus one” of whoever it is they’re dating at the time. In that guess we’re doing “Jane Smith & Guest.” You get the idea?

We decided to do it on the Save the Date so that everyone would know if they would be allowed a guest in advance. I didn’t want anyone to be surprised when the invites came out.

We wrote “and guest” on the Save-The-Date Cards for anyone who was single or I didn’t know their SO’s name (we gave everyone a +1). For the actual invitations, I tried to get the guest’s name if they were in a relationship or just put “and guest” for single people. Long story short: I put it on both.

diamond101987:  I put the exact names of the people invited on the Save-The-Date Cards (like if a friend was dating someone, I texted for his name and we allowed plus ones for couples). A single friend of mine assumed he had a plus one anyway. You can’t win! lol
