fourtylove :

I’m sorry for your loss.

While I don’t have personal experience I do have two adult friends who were adopted as children. They both have great childhood memories and wonderful relationships with their families as adults. I can only hope to have the same great relationships with my kids.

As a mom who has young children I would think that you would honestly stop thinking of them as adopted pretty soon into the relationshp. I don’t ever really think about my children’s births, their little personalities and our relationships that have been grown over the years is what mostly comes to mind.

I hope you get the family you’ve been hoping for even if the road to get there is a little different & rockier than you anticipated.

fourtylove :  It’s sad to know that adoption is so expensive. Children need love and homes. Caring for a child is expensive enough, it’s unfortunate to think that kids could be missing out on great lives due to finances 🙁

fourtylove :  I know you said no to donor eggs, but you could consider doing donor embryos (embryo adoption).

fourtylove :  I completely understand not wanting to go the pregnancy route.  I’ve had a ectopic pregnancy that sucked and took forever to resolve 🙁

I don’t know much about it other than my understanding is embryos are cheaper because they are donated from couples that got more than they needed.  I’m not sure of the whole thing, but I know regular adoption or a baby/kid can be very expensive so it might be worth checking into your options.  Good luck with whatever you decide.

My mother and father lost a pregnancy after years of struggling. Eventually they turned to adoption and found it pretty easy (from what I’ve heard), they got matched with my brothers parents in under a year. And two years later, they got matched with my parents. It goes a lot faster if you are open to all races/genders, or potentially disabilities. All together it cost around 20-30k from what I can remember. Im so thankful that I was adopted and it makes me feel special.
