She is meshuggenah (sorry, couldn’t help the Yiddish-for-Shikas).  Adopting a special needs child is one of the most awesome things you could do.

No!  As someone who was adopted at 6 weeks old by parents who went on to have a biological child, I think that you are NOT taking away a child from someone who can’t have them you are adding to a wonderful family – no matter how you got that family.  I think that there are way more children who need families than families who are willing to adopt.  So, please don’t let this get in your way.
