@bretonvirgniia:  Go to your dermatologist. FH had acne problems and when he went to the doctor she prescribed two creams and they made his face so clear it’s insane. After 6 months of using both, he only uses one. I also use it as spot treatement once in a while. Forget proactiv; you need something that’s personalized to your skin needs!

check out la roche posay – their effaclar cleanser is my holy grail item – cleared my skin up noticeably (and gently!) in about three days, and within two weeks i had a whole new face!. a GIANT bottle (you can get it at shoppers) is 20 dollars and lasts about 6 months.

other than that – steam is really good for your skin and for getting rid of gunk in your pores etc. Try buying a home steamer for your face. after steaming, your moisturizer will penetrate much deeper.

Ugh I hate adult acne!!! It sucks 🙁 I agree with some bees saying throw out that proactiv girl!!!!! It’s HORRIBLE stuff. This is what I do to keep my acne at bay.

The products I use which help SO much are OCM (oil cleansing method), retin a, glycolic cream, tea tree oil and vaseline. OCM has been the best cleanser I have used in all my years. You can make your own for cheap, just google it or I like to use DHC oil cleanser. My skin did purge really bad but that is supposed to happen. Retin a is a script, and it really works. I only use it a couple times a week or few times a month, since it’s a medication and very strong. Can’t stress that enough! Glycolic creams are also amazing, not as strong as retin a and you can find them in any drugstore. My favs are by Alpha Hydrox. Tea tree oil is also the best natural pimple fighter out there! I just dab on a zit and leave it on over night. And last, vaseline. I always put this on over my moisturizer at night. The nights that I don’t put vaseline on, my skin gets dry and breaks out.

The weird thing about vaseline.. all my younger years with perfect skin I would put vaseline on my skin EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. Best moisturizer out there. Vaseline doesn’t ‘sink’ into skin, so it can’t clog pores and create breakouts. It acts as a moisture barrier and sits on top of skin. I stopped using it when I got some furry pets, hair would stick all over my face. I just started using it again and my skin looks SO much better. It’s crazy. I love vaseline.

Good luck:)

UGH, I feel your pain bees!!  I’m 30 and have horrible skin.  I’ve been to many dermatologists and tried many skin care regimens and finally have settled on a solid regimen that works!!

Cleanser: MUST have glycolic acid (AHA) in it.  If it also has salicylic acid (BHA) that’s a bonus.  My favorite cleanser is called Ain’t Misbehavin AHA/BHA Acne Cleanser.  It’s pricey ($25) but worth every penny.  It will last a while too.  I order it from Sephora–> (http://www.sephora.com/ain-t-misbehavin-medicated-aha-bha-acne-cleanser-P181704?skuId=1000454).  Put in on dry skin, let it sit for a minute or two, then rinse.

Retin-A:  This stuff is Ahhh-mazing.  Also great for wrinkles!

Moisturizer:  Kiehl’s Rosa Arctica cream.  I love this product!  I have very oily skin and this is the only cream that moisturizes without making me look like a grease pit.  A little goes a long way.  The texture is very thick so you have to warm it between your fingers first, then pat it on your skin.  Awesome stuff.

Oral med:  I also take spironolactone like some of the other bees mentioned.  I hate taking pills, but this has proven to be an integral part of my overall skincare regimen.  My skin is absolutely perfect when I take it.
