I got my first choice. And I booked last year. Photography is important to us, so we wanted to make sure that we got who we wanted, plus do the booking before prices increased. By booking so fare in advance, we wer also able to get two photographers for the price of one. I see you are in Seattle. We are going with http://www.familyaffairphotography.com/portfolio.htm. They are a husband and wife team will work well for us.

We just booked our photographer the other day for our May 2011 wedding.  I’m into photography, love looking at wedding photos, and had been following numerous local photographer’s blogs since before we were engaged.  I had an idea of who was out there and whose styles I liked and didn’t like.  Unfortunately, many of my favorite photographers were out of our budget.  We then started searching for lesser known photographers and found one whose work was fantastic.  Since she’s fairly new to the scene, and her prices were quite competitive ($1500 for 10 hours wedding day coverage + e-session + digital files + album credit).  One of our goals for booking this early was like noritake’s: we wanted to book before prices increased as well (our photographer is increasing her prices next month).

I got my first choice.  I did a lot of research and met some photogs at a bridal expo.  I made my decision fast and put down the deposit as soon as I could.  I just felt like the photogs we picked were a lot like my Fiance and I as a couple, that’s why we moved so quickly.  We booked a year and a half in advance.

We booked ours about 13 months in advance, but we had to change our date 3 times trying to accommodate his schedule with our church… We got out first choice, but he was also our first choice vendor. So, we made sure we could get him… even if that meant switching our date!

There were about 3 that I contacted that were already booked about 8 months prior to the wedding.  We are also having a June wedding which is very popular.

We booked about 15 months in advance, and she already had other people inquiring about our date too.

We’re getting married 8 months after we got engaged, so we couldn’t plan toooo far in advance… I narrowed my list down to about 4 photographers that I really liked, and only one of those was unavailable on our date. We really lucked out… The one we picked is SO talented and exactly what I was looking for, but he and his wife have only been doing weddings for a few years so his prices were still fairly low. I just looked at his website again the other day and his prices have gone way up since we booked him!

    I got my 1st choice – I booked about 9 months out.

It might have a lot to do w/ your date – I imagine for Saturday nights in June you would need to book on the earlier side.

We booked almost a year in advance and got our first choice photographer… but we’re getting married in February which is a pretty off-season month.
