What are the advantages of a winter wedding? Spring, summer and fall may be more common choices for a wedding date, but this means that there are many benefits to choosing winter instead. As well as practical reasons for setting a date in winter, there is also something quite special and romantic.
ROMANCE
One of the advantages of a winter wedding is that it can be very romantic. You may even be lucky enough to get snow for your #wedding. Imagine how beautiful the photos would #look against a snowy background! And it’s not impossible for the sun to shine in winter, so you could still have a lovely sunny day.

Unless of live near the Great Lakes. Then your winters are 20 degrees below zero and snow isn’t like it is depicted in the movies lol.

lydiane: I thought this would be like oh hey give me reasons why winter weddings are great! nope….you just answered yourself so….why did you post this? Most people don’t need to be “sold” on a date or time of year, it’s a personal choice!

My wedding will be in summer, but mainly because I MUST get married before I turn 30. Otherwise, I’d prefer a winter wedding.
It’s easier to control the temperature and atmosphere indoors. Even though I’m getting married in summer, I refuse to have anything outdoor. I’m not all that much of a tree hugger and I don’t trust mother nature to be nice to me. There are too many variables that can ruin an outdoor wedding and living in Canada is a big one, lol. It’s nice to have one in winter because guests won’t expect anything outdoors so it’s one less thing to worry about.
The days in winter are very short so it’s darker out when it comes time to drink. It really helps with the atmosphere, IMO. I feel silly drinking in th esun in a dress… Never liked it.
Each season has it’s appeal, though so you can’t really go wrong.

AVAILABILITY
If you plan a winter wedding you’ll find it easier to get the people and places you want for your wedding. Many venues are booked up to two years in advance. Photographers and wedding cars are naturally busier in the warmer months as well. You won’t have the same competition if you choose a date in winter.

Chances are you’re friend and family have to attend a crush of weddings in the summer. With a winter wedding you get to have the season pretty much to yourself.
