I vote for tight mount and leaving the basket open. closed baskets are such a pain in the ass to clean.   So are you just changing the top mount?? any thought to a complete redo?  It’s a gorgeous ring ๐Ÿ™‚

Ahhahahahhaha! Yes you are right no 2nd 2nd redos lol! My ring is a remake and I went absolutely bonkers! I thought of everything I would ever want to see top bottom and sides including weather or not the band would be soldered or separate.

are you dead set on the halo idea? Have you seen the double shank rose gold settings?  Rose gold in my eyes is the most beautiful and strikingly gorgeous color! really though if you are going to do the redo get EVERYTHING you want! Sky is the limit design wise ๐Ÿ™‚

seejanebee:  closing the cage hurts the sparkle I hear- but idk. I have an open basket. I say if u like square cushion- just stress no gaps on corners!

I love your ring. I would go for a oval halo with a oval stone. Your oval looks so soft and feminine I would really play up the shape!

seejanebee:  rose gold is by far my favorite of all the colored metals.  The single reason I didn’t get mine in rose is because I like my jewelry to match and 99% of what I own is white gold.   But rose gold with that stone? man..especially with bling surrounding it? shut the front door!  I am 100% sure it would be stunning no matter what you picked.  But you have to love it.

seejanebee:  Wow! Your stone is really gorgeous, both in the shape and in the color. My vote would be for a more “traditional”, tighter halo hugging the oval shape, just because it’s such a pretty shape. My gut feeling is that this aspect of your stone might get lost in a cushion halo, even if you had no gaps at the corners. BUT (!!) the most important thing is for you to get what you love. If that is a cushion halo, then this is the way you should go. Your stone and ring will be beautiful, no matter what!

I would also go with rose gold for the reset. (especially if you love that metal and were already thinking about it) I think the rose would look beautiful against the pink of your stone. And it would play up the soft and feminine aspects of your stone’s shape and color. I think it would have a very elegant, timeless, and romantic feeling to it.

The important thing is to trust your own instincts. You know what you love best. Like I said, your ring is going to be stunning, no matter what.

seejanebee:  Your pink sapphire is beautiful! I would want an open basket for ease of cleaning, but, more importantly,  it will allow more light in and your sapphire will be lighter and brighter that way.

I love the look of ovals, a delicate oval halo would be so pretty and enhance the cut of your stone.

As far as metal choices, I think  your pink stone would look really good in rose gold!

Okay so here is a pink sapphire and some rose gold settings. i had a barely pink OVAL to begin with, which is what you see in these photos, and after seeing the rose gold pear setting again, i returned it that day and got a barely pink pear. I personally did not like the purple color with rose gold, but I really wanted the lighter pink shade. So if you like purple, then you would prob like this. Hope it helps. The barely pink is on the left in this first photo.

sapphire- left is a smaller but not petite halo, right is a larger halo.

Smaller oval halo

A better shot of the sapphire and color, i really just fell in love with the pear shape so i am sorry the ovals are not as clear! lol

These are 14k rose gold
