I have always had irregular and heavy periods (I would sometimes miss a month here and there), and have been on and off BC since I was 19 years old (19-22 years old, 24-28 years old). At 24, I had missed my period for 6 months and they had found multiple small cysts on my ovaries with one larger cyst on one ovary. I had gained some weight and my doctor told me that I had PCOS.
Fast forward to now- I’m 28, and my husband and I decided that we’d like to start trying for a baby! I’m a little nervous about stopping my birth control though… I will visit my doctor to talk about stopping BC, but I really don’t even know what to expect!
Just looking to hear from any ladies who have PCOS and who have stopped BC to try to conceive!
My doctor had told me a while back that my PCOS symptoms would lessen if I lost the weight I gained, but I have found it very difficult to lose weight over the years (not impossible though). So far I’ve lost 15, and have 40 pounds to go but I’m a little worried how not being on BC will change things! Any tips and advice from those with PCOS and trying to conceive would be greatly appreciated!
