We are having a wedding in the US for our daughter and the groom’s family wants another wedding in Europe for older family memebers to attend a month later. It’s not a grab for more gifts because both weddings will be listed on the invitations so family can chose which event to attend. However, we were not consulted on the date of the second wedding and to attend it we will need to spend a substantial amount of money to be in Europe for only 4 days. After paying for the first wedding we don’t feel we can do this. We could cut the wedding budget from the US wedding to afford it but should we have to? Are we being hard headed? I need an objective opinion. Our daughter is hurt but we shared the dates we could attend before it was set and it was ignored. We are trying to set loving boundaries but it’s really hard to break her heart, help!
