Here is my entire set: 3.43 carat princess solitaire diamond ering with 1ctw/8 diamond (each) wedding bands on either side. Typically I am not a big fan of halos BUT that being said I saw one on this thread with the tiniest halo and that was super pretty… I think as long as the diamonds arent too large and you cannot see a lot of metal… it should just look like a sparkly rim around your diamond to further enhance it and that is all, anything more than that is not my taste but I hope you are happy with whatever decision you make. Everyone has their own preference so stick with what you love!

When shopping, I tried on a 3 carat stone without a halo and it completely overwhelmed my size 5 hand (and I love bling but it really was too big!)

A 2 carat halo was perfect size wise and looked very ‘real’. 

It comes down to personal preference but I think 3 carats might risk looking a bit fake with a halo whereas 2 – 2.5 carats with a halo looks stunning

sunnyday205:  yup keep trying on. I thought I wanted a halo cushion e-ring. When I tried them on in person they didn’t make me feel ‘wow’ as I thought, so we went looking for a diamond to be set as a solitare (Ended up with a solitare OMC with side baguettes that we both totally love – but that’s a whole other story!). We also had to travel to other cities to see anything bigger than 1ct – diamonds tend to be smaller here – the UK chain jewellers I mean. So take some time trying on lots of styles. You might be surprised what you end up with!

sunnyday205: I think that is going to be amazing. I don’t think the halo will be *too much* if that is what you are going for (and I’m assuming you are with a 3ct). I would stick to a really small pave like 1.5mm to 2mm at most so you can get the extra sparkle, but it will still let your center stone be the star! 🙂

I say definitely go for it. I have a size 5 finger. A 2.12 ct center stone with a double halo the ring totals 3.20 and my ring is shrinking. You look at it everyday it’s not going to be as huge as you once thought.

Mine is a 3.26 ct centre stone in platnium halo setting however I don’t have any pictures of it on my finger because my fiance and I are long distance right now! He is properly proposing when he comes to see me. 

My finger size is 4.5 🙂

I think with a round your finger will be overwhelemed. A 3ct round looks so large. 

I have a 3 caret emerald on a 4.25 size on a pave band and i think any more coverage than that would be overhwhelming. 

It’s also really personal preference. I have friends with double halos and i think the coverage is uncessary but I’m sure they may think my ring should have a halo.

Blurry pic but this is a 3.8 carat cushion on a size 4.25 finger. Face up, I think it’s equivalent to a 2.8 carat round. The entire ring including the halo takes up almost 100% finger coverage!
