Hi Everyone! I need some help!
So we’re having a destination wedding (!!!!) and we’re considering having a reception when we get back, so that everyone that cant come to the wedding can at least celebrate with us at a reception. We’re thinking 150 people, at a venue close to home. BUT, I just have a feeling it will be awkward. do I wear my wedding dress again? Would we do our first dance again? It just seems like a reception, two weeks after the wedding, would be kind of awkward because we’re celebrating something that already happened.
Has anyone done this? How did it turn out?

we are doing this but only having 8 people at our Destination Wedding. so for most of our guests it will be our “wedding” I bought a different dress for it but its still a wedding dress

I think that you would treat it just like a reception if that’s what you want to do. If you’d rather it be casual, then go with that – it’s your party!
Personally, I’d show a video of your ceremony (if you are having it videoed) before you and your husband enter, then after the video you can be announced in all your wedding finest and get the party started!

You can do whatever you want. My FI’s mom is throwing a party for us. It’s going to be casual; I will not wear my dress again. I will have a gues book type thing, though.

We are doing a at home reception too. I was surprised by how many of our family said they expected me to wear my dress so they could see it. It will be semi-formal but we are not doing a cake cutting or anything like that.
If your worried ask a few of your close relatives what they think of your ideas. Each family is different so you never know.
