Just try not to think about them.  When I was walking down the aisle, I had tunnel vision, all I saw was my husband.

Maybe think of it more as attention on the two of you and your families?  I think for most of the time, during the reception, anyway, people are focused on whatever is going on near them, the food, the music, dancing, gardens, etc.  For the rest of it, just remember that they are there to support and love you, not to judge you.  🙂

i usually dont get nervous but i kind of did as soon as i started walking down the aisle but then i looked at FI and kept my eyes on him and i was fine. so def look at your FI while you are walking toward him…forget everyone else for that moment and it will go great!

dont be nervous about being nervous! everyone gets a little nervous…there is nothing you can do to stop it but just try to focus on your FI and the purpose of the day! 😉

I was dreading the attention too and was panicking so much in the days before my wedding. But honestly, in the moments before the walk down the aisle all I could think was “Let’s go!” This weird calmness came over me and I was just so ready. Hold on tight to whoever is walking you down the aisle and keep your eyes on your FI as you approach him. The rest of the day will go by in a blink!

Haha. I don’t know if you’re joking @Kittyachi, but I actually did take 1/2 an ativan a few hours before the ceremony. Perhaps that was the sudden calmness I felt?!

I’m not married yet but am also shy. I plan on having at least 1 glass of champagne in the morning! Usually makes me a bit light-headed which will be perfect to calm down a bit.

LOL no I’m 100% serious. I may even get someone to prescribe me a beta-blocker in addition to the stuff I already take daily.

Shot of tequila right before you walk down the aisle? 😉

Kidding (kind of.)

@Kittyachi Yes! I’m not the only one. I didn’t even tell my bridemaids about that  for fear of being judged. I was a total mental case at work for two straight weeks and finally a coworker with an ativan scrip came up to me and said “Please. Please just have a few of these to tide you over.” I guess I hadn’t been hiding my nerves as well as I’d thought!

My advice is to drink regularly from here until Saturday!  I kid, I kid… kinda :oP

I just got nervous for the first time yesterday.  I tried to fall asleep to no avail, I was a spazz.  I’m not sure what to do about the nerves actually.  Deep breathing, not hurting others, that’s pretty much what I’ve been focusing on!

Aww… I get so nervous too, even over things I don’t need to get nervous over haha!

For both my sister’s and my best friend’s weddings, the BM’s and mom’s and such planned to have extra time right before getting dressed/going down.  So, both times we put in a girly movie for about an hour and just relaxed.  If you have the time after hair/makeup, I highly recommend it.  We were able to relax, forget about the events of the day for a bit, and it really calmed us down. 🙂

Just try and think about it as the only person focused on you is your soon to be hubby – And as for what Miss. Cardigan said, a shot of tequila never hurt 😉
