I need your thoughts on booking a salon vs. booking a travelling stylist, and whether to have a trial done.
We live around 2 hours away from the region I’d be looking to book a salon in. A salon I found seems really nice and is reasonably priced, but has no reviews on any wedding sites, so I’d most likely do both a hair and makeup trial. What happens if you don’t like the results? Tell them? Start the search over? Give feedback they’d use the day-of?
If I choose a travelling professional, I need to either find a person who does both, or spend double time finding two people that do either. And since I’m not local, I’m not sure how a trial would work. My concern with hiring one person is time constraints, but it would only be myself and two other ladies getting hair and makeup done, the ceremony is at 4:30, so I don’t think that would be too bad.
I’m highly tempted to not even have a trial done because they are a bit costly from what I’ve seen so far, and because it’s a long trip for that. Of the vendors I’ve narrowed down, all are very highly rated across the wedding sites, so I feel like I’d be fine with not having a trial done.
What are your thoughts? Hire travelling professionals and have them come to our rented beach house, or go to the salon? Skip the trial? What would you do?
