I’ve fallen in love with a Simon G wedding band that blows my budget to pieces. I want something similar, but haven’t found anything close to it online. My e-ring was custom made (in another state) at a fraction of the price we were told by other places. I am thinking about having something custom made. Any advice for going custom? Any recommendations for jewlers in the Chicago area???

Absolutely go to Windy City Diamonds. I got my e-ring custom made there and bought our wedding bands there. I have recommended them to many others and personally know 3 girls with custom diamond rings from there based on my referral.
If you can, work with Garry Zimmerman (the owner). He is fantastic and very helpful.
Feel free to PM me with other questions!

I dont live in Chicago, but I have a Simon G ring, and was disgusted by the price for the matching wedding band. I contacted Etsy seller Laurie Sarah ( shes very popular here on the bee) and she offered to make a custom bamd for about half therice from SG. Just an option for you.

I also vote for Windy City Diamonds. My futer sister in law had her e-ring and wedding band done there, my future father in law redid his wedding band (and they used his old one in it, it is so cool!), and I just picked up my wedding band yesterday from there! I have nothing but positive things to say about them.
They’ll make you a wax version of your ring first so you can check it out before they actually make it, and if you’re not happy they will redo the wax version until you like it!
I didn’t really look too much before just deciding to get a custom band (because I wanted it to fit snug against my e-ring) but everyone said the prices there were really good. They also made mine super quick! I had to give up my e-ring for a week so they could make a mold of it, and it took them only another week to make the wedding band. I thought that two weeks was a very quick turn around time. Good luck with your band!

If you don’t want to go custom, check out http://www.zeghani.com. Simon G makes the Zeghani line and many of their rings are very similar to the Simon G ones. The Zeghani line is less expensive. I almost bought one (went with an entirely different ring altogether) and the jeweler said they were very good quality.

@country chic: Thanks! Their rings look great and there is a place close to me that sells them. I’m definitely planning a ring shopping day this weekend!

I got my engagement ring at Bliss Diamonds in Libertyville. They were super nice and were able to give me a great price due to the fact that they purchase diamonds directly from the mines.

If you’re near the western suburbs go to Larc Jewelers in Glen Ellyn. Work with Wes, he is the owner and does AMAZING custom design. My fiance had my engagement ring custom made there and he is custom making my 2 wedding bands right now.
The shop is very relaxed for a jewelry store, no pressure to make a sale and super friendly and laid back employees. His cute little doggies are behind the counter too! The store has some amazing vintage jewelry & tons of gorgeous gemstone jewelry. I drool every time we go in.
