- Wedding: June 2010
Hi all, I have a couple of questions for you. My FH and I have decided that since this is my encore and we’ve both been on our own (thus, we need nothing for the house) that we’d register for things that we need for outside our home. We have been wanting to redo our yard which is pretty much without character right now, somthing that we can enjoy with my two children. So we want to build a deck ourselves, put in some great gardens (vegetable, herb, and flower), bird bath, hammock, you get the picture. I had thought we could register with Home Depot then there would be the option of purchasing an item or gift card should our guests choose. Today we realized that we could register for everything we want now (our wedding is next June and I am not sure when the shower is being thrown) and everything we would have chosen would be out of season. We checked with home depot and this is in fact true plus they typically dont carry the same items from one season to the next. Whatever we register for now would most likely not even be available in the store come next spring. We dont want to cause confusion for those who are looking to purchase a gift. I am not sure what or where to go. We can still say we’d like gift cards to Home depot since we could really use the help getting materials for the deck but isn’t that a bit tacky? And how do we register for all the other items that are purely seasonal? I know its early to register but someone mentioned that once people even know that there is a chosen date for the wedding, like to have the information so that they can purchase a gift immediately if they for so choose. I have an ex Mother-In-Law who was a very competative gift giver…ie. always wanted to be the first one to choose from the registry list. So I thought that if that makes life easier for everyone we’d register soon but as winter comes, again I am not sure we’d even be able to find the items that we really could use. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thakns guys!
