Ok I need advice on my bridesmaid dresses. Long story short we were to be married last year and called it off. These were the dresses I ordered for that wedding and love them (They are long chiffon gowns) We have set a new date for this Aug and at an outdoor venue. We are in NC and in Aug it can be really hot! Should I keep the dresses long as they are (love the elegant look of them) or should I have the girls alter them to knee length to save them from the heat? And would this dress look just as good knee length? My dresses are in a grape purple color.

I think short is always better for Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses, especially if you’re doing a summer/more casual wedding this time. No one want to wear a long gown outdoors in the summer. I might offer to pay for the alterations though since you switched it up on them.

Definitely short if you are having a Southern wedding in August. I would offer to pay for the alterations though, as PP mentioned.

I too think short would be better for a summer/outdoor wedding and the style should look just as good.
