I have a Mother-In-Law that suffers from the same condition! Honestly, you just need to be there for him and reassure him that you love him the way he is. She may have said all of that in front of a lot of people, but that reflects more poorly on her than it does your poor Fiance.

I’m different. I don’t mind conflict or confrontation. I would’ve said, “FMIL, that was one of the rudest and most hurtful thing a mother could say to her child. Honey, get your shit. We’re leaving.” Then I’d wait for a genuine apology. If it didn’t come, she wouldn’t be hearing from either of us.

My Fiance on the other hand, would say, “Haha, thanks mom. But, I’m sexy and I know it. Those cheeseburgers love me as much as I love them.”

He’s calmer than me :/
