So last night we were at FSIL’s house for her gender reveal party (yay new niece!) and, well, Future Mother-In-Law was on a total roll. She has this horrible condition that comes out every once in a while called foot in mouth syndrom, and last night it came out in a big way. She apparently was trying to tell FI’s SIL how many children they should have and so on and even went so far as starting to argue about it … Then she turned her attention to Fiance. In front of everyone she tells him that he looks pregnant and needs to lose weight before the Big Day. Then she tells him that he needs to make sure he books in with the dentist. Everyone got really quiet, just looking at her, and the train wreck continued to the point that Future Sister-In-Law told her that was enough and she did not stop. The damage has been done. I would have said something at the time but I was just in so much shock that she could say such cruel things in a room full of people. Fiance is so incredibly hurt and he has already been an emotional wreck due to a large amount of stress with work (losing two of his management team so today will be day six of twelve in a row of working after only one day off last week and working the previous seven days before that day off – his company’s policies have made life incredibly difficult). So I don’t know how to make him feel better or what to do. I just don’t know … It’s just so hard because he is so mentally tired. I really don’t know what to say or do.
