- Wedding: March 2013
First of all, I recently got engaged and this is my first post, so hi everyone!
Now, for the issue… We are trying to choose a wedding date next spring. Problem is, my sister/MOH is in school a few hours away. She can very easily come home for a weekend (and does so about once a month anyway) so the rehearsal dinner and wedding won’t be an issue for her….but she wants the wedding over her spring break in early March so she can be here for the whole week leading up to the wedding. I live in the NW and although April weather isn’t great here, March is far worse. I would much prefer to do it in April. In addition, March is a more difficult date for other people in both of our wedding parties. I know my sister just wants to help and be involved but coordinating with everyone is stressful and I feel like no matter what, someone will be upset about the date we choose.
My question is this: how important is it for your Maid/Matron of Honor to be present the week leading up to the wedding? Would spending a week with her a month before the wedding be a reasonable alternative? I’m really not familiar with the wedding planning timeline. I figured the things she would want to participate in would be the dress fitting, a bridal shower and a bachelorette party, all of which could still be done during her spring break in March. What do you think?
