We do have season here, hot, less hot, not so hot and back to hot! The nice thing about Phoenix is that housing is inexpensive compared to other big cities. There is a lot to do here, but my biggest problem is that because the city is so widespread it can be a bit of a drive to get anywhere.  If you or your husband is into sports it’s a great place to live as we have a basketball, hockey, baseball and football team. While the weather can be super hot, it’s really only 2.5 months of miserable.  If you have a pool the summers aren’t too bad, plus the nights are still nice since we don’t have a lot of humidity.  Our winters are amazing, sunshine every day and great for being outside.  There are tons of hiking trails, bike paths and some great parks to enjoy the weather.  I’ve only lived in Phoenix for a year, I came from Tucson so I’m still familiar with the area.  If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

The nice thing about Phoenix vs. living on the east side of the country is that unless you are looking at condos pretty much all the houses are detatched.  According to Trulia.com the average house in Phx is $254,000 and the median is $151,000. Right now we have started browsing for houses and we can easily get a 3 bedroom with a pool for under $200,000. We rent right now and live in a 3 bedroom 2 bath house in a nice neighborhood with a large backyard right in central Phoenix and we pay $1,100 a month for rent.  Like with most big cities houses are cheaper if you live in the suburbs. Chandler and Gilbert are nice especially if you have or are planning on children. It’s much greener than Phoenix, lots of new houses and stores, neighborhood waterparks and good schools. My cousin and his family live in Chandler and they love it. I’m not a fan of suburb living and I prefer central Phoenix, since I want to be close to downtown and all the action.
