I’ve never been to Mexico, but I’ve had friends go to Cancun without any issues. I think if you don’t drink the water you should be ok. Maybe talk to a local travel agent?

I’ve never been to Mexico, but have you considered the Bahamas?  You can often get deals there, including on all-inclusives.

As for Florida, I love South Beach/Miami, but it would definitely not meet your criteria for the beach.  It’s kind of seaweedy and definitely doesn’t have the color/clarity of Caribbean beaches.

I went to Moon Palace resort over Thanksgiving last year (in Cancun) and it was wonderful!  It was all inclusive with a lot of restaurant choices, good food, good drinks, beautiful grounds, really nice rooms, etc.

Also, they have a purifier thing that all of their water runs through there at the resort so there are no issues what-so-ever with their water or ice.

My hometown of Amelia Island is great for a low-key beach vacation 🙂

My family recently went to the Me Cancun and did not have any problems (I did not go, but they all loved it and would definitely go back). I went to Cancun years ago and I also did not have any issues, I believe I stayed at the Oasis, but that is more of a Spring Break spot and probably not what you are looking for.

Have you also considered the Dominican or Jamaica? Both have some great all-inclusive deals.

Have you thought at all about Punta Cana, DR? That’s where we are honeymooning- most of the hotels are all-inclusive and fairly reasonable!

@Brielle:  Erm, I mean it’s not a white sand beach (which I actually hate, lol), and there are some shells. I wouldn’t say it’s uncomfortable to walk on, but I’m used to it, so if you’re really focused on the sand you should definitely go gulf side. The downside to that is their water isn’t the same… it’s got a lot of algae and stuff in it that ours doesn’t (at least, that was my experience when we visited in PCB and couldn’t really swim for all the junk in th water).
