I need some advice on undergarmets. My dress is a lace fit-n-flare/trumpet – it’s Maggie Sottero Phillipa. I mentioned to the bridal consultant when I got it that I planned on getting some spanx and she insisted that I don’t really need them because of the corset back – but I just know that I will feel better with the spanx there to make sure everything stays in place!
I’ve never bought spanx before so I am debating between the ones that just look like high waisted panties and the ones that go down the thigh – what do you ladies think is the best option? I am wondering if I would be better off with the ones that go to mid thigh to keep everything nice and smooth. These are the 2 styles I am deciding between:
Any ideas which would work better or thoughts on this? (Especially if you wore or plan to wear a similar style dress). FYI, I am not a fan of the one pieces thingies that also have a bra – they just seem like I’d be pulling it up all night – I plan to just go to VS and get a new strapless bra that I can wear again whenever I need one.
Thanks so much, girls!!

I also have a Maggie dress (Kendra) and have mydriest fitting next week. (so excited) So i have been thinking about what i will wear underneath. I have settled on a shortS styles spanx to wear for a couplereasons. 1. the corset top is awesome! And holds me in nice and tight 2. I don’t want anything on that is going to be hard to adjust if I have to use the ladies room. I wore a similar pair to the ones you had listed to a friends wedding last August under a dress, and could easily lift the dress all the way up to adjust. but thinking this is not going to be an option in my wedding dress with the corset top, so chose to go with the short spanxs. Just my thoughts…..

With a corset built into the dress, everything WILL stay in place. You don’t need to stuff yourself into a shaper in addition to the corset. Check out this real bride in your dress...it doesn’t look overly slinky or tight.
You don’t have to buy anything right now. You’re dress won’t be in for months. Just sit tight and think about things. You can go to the first fitthing without it and decide then (assuming you’ll have 2-3 fittings).
I thought I was going to wear a seamless, strapless bustier under my dress, but once I had it, I realized that it was just too much in addition to my dress.
I could see someone wearing a silk charmeuse or bias cut gown wearing a shaper, but most other dresses don’t really need them if the dress is fitted porperly.

Although my dress had a built n Corset, I wanted more pushup so I wore a strapless bra and option #1. Now I did switch to a reception dress because my wediing dress has delicate chiffon train. Also I wanted to wear a 50s style dress. Why not have as many outfits as possible? Also I knew Darling Husband wouldn’t be able to help me undress out of my wedding dress.
