I was stationed in Bethesda from 2002-2006 and I loved the Gaithersburg area. Lots of Metro stations too!!! It wasn’t horribly expensive then… GL:))

I work in downtown Bethesda, and I live on Wisconsin in DC, right by the Cathedral (south of Tenleytown metro).  I’ve also lived in downtown Silver Spring (to the east of Bethesda), and it was pretty nice but seemed like a hassle going out in DC because it’s kind of far away public transportation-wise.  I like living in the city better.  But I would recommend somewhere on the red line, depending on much you plan on driving (wouldn’t recommend it, buses and metro are usually faster and much cheaper).
