This is my first post here, but I need some advice about our wedding photographer. So, in the early stages of our wedding planning, my fiancé and I agreed that the one area where we were totally okay with blowing the budget was photography. We both really really want amazing pictures. So, we began our search for a wedding photographer, and found absolutely incredibly photographers – and even though it was more than double what we originally anticipated spending on a photographer, we booked them right away and were so incredibly excited about them.
Anyways, since then, we’ve been watching everything they have been putting up on their blog, and, while its also beautiful – its not really our style. The stuff they had on their blog previously (i.e. when we booked) looked like a lot more what we had in mind (and really just suits our style/our vision for our wedding a lot more).
Just to clarify, I still think they are incredibly talented, and everything they post does reflect that. It’s that their most recent pictures are not as much our style as their older pictures from previous seasons were. I know that its normal for a photographers style to evolve over time, but I really want to have pictures that are more their “previous” (I would describe them as really soft and romantic) style compared to “current” (still beautiful, but very dramatic) style. I can even pick out numerous weddings from the blog that are exactly in line with our vision.
My question to you is, do you think there is a tactful way of telling them (without insulting them/their talent) that we would prefer our photos look a bit different than the way they are currently shooting weddings?
What would you do?
