I got a positive OPK yesterday afternoon, still positive this morning too. This evening for the past few hours, I have had AF-type cramps. If I weren’t tracking with OPKs I would think AF would be starting soon. What could be going on? Ovulation pain?? It’s not sharp or localized, it really feels like my normal cramps.

jbbird : cramp at ovulation is a very common thing. Did you experience it before?

mrs2014 : not that I’ve noticed, but this is my first cycle TTC so I’ve been paying more attention to it. I had just read ovulation cramps are generally higher up and to one side, and I was feeling cramps all over!

jbbird : if it’s first time happening it’s weird!
My ovulation cramps are the same as AF (just last one 1-2days).
I would say wait for a couple of days, if it’s ovulation cramps they should pass.

I never get cramps with AF but get a twingey pulling feeling around ovulation. Some months if I was sitting still I could feel it ‘pop’. I noticed the crampy feelings would swap sides each month too. I’d say what you’re feeling is normal and maybe you’re now paying closer attention. Handy indicator if you’re ttc!

jbbird : Did you happen to just come off birth control? If so, you’ll notice that you start to feel a whole load of symptoms that BC used to “numb.”
Plus, when TTCing we all symptom spot like it’s our job, but it will drive you crazy. This month I’ve had cramps the entire way through and sore boobs which is totally unusual for me…and nothing but BFNs. Just track your symptoms in an app and maybe one day you’ll notice a pattern to them (or not, like me, and then you just want to attribute it all to BFP).

I am over the hill now at 60, but I used to get such mittlesmertz back in the day. I would have to take ibuprofen! As long as the doctor says you are ok, it is just one more of those things we put up with.
It is convenient if you are TTC though.

I usually got cramps during O. Felt like menstrual cramps to me, just for a shorter time (mine were usually 30m-a few hours)
