Try looking into cheapcaribbean.com or even groupon travel deals for packages.  I think there are definitely some good deals at affordable prices to be had at all inclusives!

Use oyster.com for reviews.  I LOVE that site – and the pictures are really helpful.  We’re thinking about going to Jamaica in May and it’s been a great resource.

We’ve been looking on http://www.luxurylink.com/ . We haven’t picked anything yet, but there are a lot of beautiful places on there!

@elysion:  This.

Cheapcaribbean.com has a lot of deals and the way it’s layed out is easier on the eyes than other sites. They have a ton of all-inclusives with a wide range of affordability. They even have a split deposit payment system which is nice. I will be going through them for my honeymoon to Jamaica this July!

I really liked the pricing of the Couples resorts in Jamaica. My ex-FI and I were on a pretty tight budget and still thought it was doable – can’t remember any prices now, but you might wanna look into that. If you do an ‘off’ season you can prob get decent flight prices as well.

If you are honeymooing in the summer (ETA: just noticed that it’s not a honeymoon. My bad), after your wedding, you should have no problem finding an all-inclusive that’s affordable, as it’s the off-season.  Be prepared for rain though.

I expect you are American, so Cuba isn’t an option, however our March vacay to Cuba is $1100 each, airfare, taxes, fees in, and that’s during the peak season.  You should quite easily be able to find a package for $1000-$1500 each in somewhere like the DR or Mexico.

Have you talked to a travel agent?

@Gemstone:  Great!  Totally doable, I would look into the British Virign Isles…lots of amazing, all inclusive,  over water cabana stuff for the beach lovers of the world!

There was a cheap place in the Dominican Republic, but airfare was more expensive/travel time was longer. I think you’ll have a hard time doing a week for two people under 3-4k. But check out Groupons and cheapcaribbean.com, etc.

We just went to Mexico all-inclusive in January.  Everything including flights was $2,400 on Expedia 🙂  Of course we had a little spending money, but I am guessing it was less than $3k.  Avoid going in March-April.  It will be more than that, I am sure.  We were in Cancun at The Royal Resort!  It was Wednesday through Sunday 🙂
