I bought a fairly expensive dress at a great price (since it was a sample). While I prefer to not spend that much for the alterations, I care more about getting it right than possibly going for a reduced cost and not having my dress fit perfectly. Right now, based on other reviews here, I am thinking about Ms. Coutoure in Lincoln Park or Mary Catomy. The reviews for both seem to be good, but I was hoping to have confirmation about them (or recommendations for others) from someone who either needed a decent amount of alterations (since my dress is a number of sizes too big) and also had a designer dress.

I also have a expensive wedding dress. I searched and searched for the best place to care for my dress. I needed many alterations as well. The dress doctor and all other locations were super expensive! I found a Polich lady who owns her own wedding, prom, etc shop on the Southside (Midway Airport area) She is aweosme and Really has done a great job with my dress! My wedding is in August. Let me know if you want more details on her!

I used Mary Catomy back in 2007 and she was great to work with! My dress didn’t need extensive alterations (hem, bustle, straps), but then I also brought her my reception dress which had a lot of beads and needed to be taken in a size. She did both dresses for about $200, AND she fixed my too-poofy veil for free. Make sure you call and book her 6 months in advance, she gets booked up really quickly!
