(Closed) Affordable Backdrop Behind Head Table Options? What Did You Use?

I am attempting to do a background. I bought a variety of fabrics (all 40% off or more at joann’s) and cut them into strips. I then took the strips and used a candle frame to slightly melt the edge so it gave the edge of the fabric some texture. From there I will arrange them and sew them onto another piece of fabric that I will be able to slide onto PVC pipe. Instead of purchasing a standard pipe and drape kit I decided PVC was a much cheaper route. I am going to use draping material to hide any weird seams (I am not great with a sewing machine) as well as any drape. I also purchased I wooden monogram that I am spraypainting with gold glitter that will be centered in front of all the fabric.

I am hoping this works. As of right now all I have done is cutting the strips and doing the flame thing. I need to get back to it, but I still have until October for my wedding. I wanted something behind us though for our sweetheart table.

bridetobe24:  In my experince, uplighting costs a fortune.  So, if you cut back one of your uplights, you can probably spend the $60 on the actual beading/crystals you want.  I think $60 is super cheap as is.  What is your budget for backdrop?  Maybe you can plant some flowers and use the peddals attached to fishing string.  I don’t think you’ll be able to do the fishing string, tule and lights under $60.

bridetobe24:  If you want to hang a crystal curtain you could use the beaded curtains you put over doors (like in the 60’s).  This website has some plastic ones for $19.99, you could probably get two to hang behind you. http://www.shopwildthings.com/acbecu.html

You probably wouldn’t be able to even tell they are plastic unless you get really close.

Do you know how to use a sewing machine? Paper garlands are very cheap, but a little time consuming. Use metallic paper if you want more of a bling look. This project will probably cost you $10-$15 (ask friends if they have scrapbooking whole punches, or buy one then return it when your done). You can sell these after and actually make a profit as well. <br /><br />Here is a tutorial <br />https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7zhMz-c4GY

jmc3457:  wow crazy! i literally had the same idea but for as a photo wall. i didn’t want to use ribbon because i think it will be more pricey and this way, it is much easier to set up (at least in my mind).  i kept trying to explain what i am planning to do to my bridal party and i’m not sure they followed me.  it’s refreshing to have someone else thought the same way. great minds think alike! πŸ™‚

2 palm trees that were also used for the ceremony.   It looked so tropical!
