Ooh I got so excited when I read your post.  Ariel from Anika London did my boudoir photos, (and engagement and wedding photos with her husband), and I LOVED them.

First of all, she is one of the nicest people I’ve ever met.  So working with her is so comfortable and easy.  She has a great eye and gave good direction.  The style of the photos was soft, natural and romantic. It wasn’t raunchy but more sexy, pretty and artsy.  So consider what your guy’s tastes are before making a decision on a photographer.  If you want something super raunchy with like black leather or pin up style, she’s probably not for you.

I highly recommend Ariel not just for boudoir but for all photography.  She and her husband were our absolute favorite wedding vendors!  Just FYI, she just had a baby so I would contact her to see about when she’ll be starting to see clients.

Our photographers (well, the wife; they’re a husband and wife couple) have recently started doing boudoir. I can’t testify to pricing as it’s not something I have looked into, but I know their pricing for wedding photography is pretty reasonable, so I imagine boudoir is too. Tracy is also super friendly and easy to work with, and they are great communicators (we have met with them in LA but have done much of our correspondence over email).

You can try looking for new photogrphers who are willing to exchange time for prints/ disks of images if you are willing to let them use your images in their portfolios.

I’m a boudoir photographer in OC. My average client spends between $500 – $700 on a session + images and book.
